The events of September 11, 2001, profoundly impacted countless lives, marking a day of deep reflection and collective memory. During World War II, my husband's father was stationed in the Philippines. His cousin Marie, who grew up with him in Brooklyn, frequently wrote to him. Her letters were so captivating that another soldier, upon reading them, felt compelled to write to her, hoping for a reply. This correspondence blossomed into a romance, and upon his return from the war, they married and had three children.
Their eldest son, Robert, was on the 100th floor of the World Trade Center when the first plane struck. Although we never met him, discovering Robert's name engraved on the 9/11 Memorial deeply saddened us. This tragic day connects us all in a spirit of unity, remembrance, and love, reminding us of the enduring bonds that tie us together through shared loss and resilience. #9/11 #911memorial #WeRemember
