About Linda C. Esposito and the BE CLEAR Method to Living with Bronchiectasis TM I was diagnosed with bronchiectasis (BE) and a Mycobacterium Avium Complex (MAC) infection in 2017. To learn more about my story please read the guest blog posted below and listen to the podcast.
My goal with this website is to let you know that there are many ways you can take charge of your health. The first step towards this goal is to build a strong medical team. You will have bronchiectasis for the rest of your life because the scarring in your lungs is permanent. Therefore, it is imperative that you do everything you can to find doctors, therapists and perhaps even complementary medical providers, who will guide you and support you.
Secondly, you can further aid your healing by adopting a daily self-care practice. This practice will be focused around keeping your airways clear of mucus because often damaged lungs can no longer do an adequate job of sweeping mucus up and out of our bronchi. When mucus pools in the dilated passages of our airways, it promotes the growth of additional bacteria, viruses and fungi.
We can keep our lungs clear of mucus by exercising and doing airway clearance practices. Moreover, using breathing and relaxation techniques will also aid our body in reducing inflammation and controlling infection.
All of these steps are addressed in my book The BE CLEAR Method to Living with Bronchiectasis. Although the book is not yet available, I share some of the steps of the BE CLEAR Method on this website as well as on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
